Meeting Betrayal Trauma in the Therapy Room

Therapy can feel like a puzzle, can't it?

Your clients come to you carrying the destruction from the deceit of their partner.

As their therapist, you’re trying to understand the depth of their pain.

What are the pieces of the puzzle?

Imagine your favorite picture

being torn to pieces in front of you by the person

you trusted the most in your life.

Imagine your life being destroyed by the deceit of the person who you thought was your “Ride or Die”

That’s Betrayal Trauma

It’s as though a tornado rips through your life and all you can do is look around in disbelief and wonder how this has happened.

And you feel like you could lose your mind.

Those are the puzzle pieces that our clients need us to help them fit together.

“How did this happen?”

“How do I survive this?

What do I do now?

Each puzzle piece is a part of your client's life story - their experiences, emotions, traumas, attachments. When they come to us, they often are still looking at the pieces of their life littered around them-wondering what in the hell just happened.

Our job is to help them find these pieces, sort through them, pick up what that they need to hold now and learn to set aside or leave behind the pieces that don’t fit in the new picture of their lives.

In the mental health field,

betrayal trauma can be compared to a

5000 piece detailed and challenging

jigsaw puzzle.

Life’s pieces are scattered, torn apart, steeped in pain, confusion and mistrust.

Some pieces are destroyed, leaving gaping holes where there had been attachment.

It can be overwhelming. You may not feel trained in the impact of betrayal trauma.

As a therapist, you may wonder

“What do I do next?”

Betrayal trauma is the pain experienced when the person that we have counted on to be “our person” betrays our trust and destroys our world as we have known it.

Meeting Betrayal Trauma in the Therapy Room

is an introductory training program specifically designed to equip therapists with the necessary tools to navigate the complexities of betrayal trauma.

This program is not just about the theories—it’s about understanding the betrayal experience.

It's about providing a safe and supportive environment where your clients

can begin to make sense of their trauma and start healing.

We are the compass for the beginning of their healing journey.

Do you feel prepared to meet your client’s needs?

With Meeting Betrayal Trauma in the Therapy Room, you'll learn how to:

  • Identify and understand the unique challenges presented by betrayal trauma

  • Collaboratively work with your client to piece together their trauma story

Every puzzle is different. And so is every client.

Our clients come to us with the hope that we are equipped to help them navigate the pain

and find their way through the debris.

Do you feel ready to sit with their pain and to offer them the assurance that you are there to walk with them through their healing?

Can you feel comfortable in your ability to be the therapist who “gets it”?

This training program will prepare you to answer YES to these questions!

You’ll come away with skills to:

  • meet your client in their destruction

  • offer the supportive environment they require

  • understand the depth of their pain

  • provide effective therapeutic interventions

  • be the harbour in the storm when their trust in “their person” has been shattered

Hi, I’m LaDonna

I can’t wait to meet you!

No matter what we teach, we teach who we are. -Parker Palmer

I learned the need for skilled Betrayal Trauma therapists from my own search of support after the discovery of my long term partner’s addictions and sexual/financial infidelities. As I healed and created programs for others to heal,

I continued to hear the struggle of other betrayed partners in finding the therapists they needed with the skills to walk with them through their betrayal trauma.

I decided that I could be most helpful to therapist and betrayed partners by sharing what I have learned through my own work.

The program I am offering is a result of years of my own recovery from betrayal

coupled with research and experience in the methods that work and that your clients need.
